Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb boneless chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
1 small Chinese cabbage, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, sliced
1 red bell pepper, diced
2 green onions, chopped
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for extra flavor)
1 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for an authentic flavor)
1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
Salt, to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Ingredients:
Slice the chicken into thin strips and set aside.
Chop the Chinese cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
Dice the red bell pepper, slice the onion, and mince the garlic.
Mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch in a small bowl for the stir-fry sauce.
2. Marinate the Chicken (Optional):
If you prefer tender chicken, marinate it with 1 tsp soy sauce and a pinch of cornstarch for 10–15 minutes.
3. Heat the Pan:
Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable or sesame oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
4. Cook the Chicken:
Add the chicken strips to the hot pan and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until fully cooked and slightly browned.
Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
5. Sauté the Aromatics:
In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.
Add the minced garlic and sliced onion, stir-frying for 1 minute until fragrant.
6. Cook the Vegetables:
Add the chopped cabbage and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still slightly crisp.
7. Combine Everything:
Return the cooked chicken to the pan.
Pour the stir-fry sauce over the mixture and toss everything to coat evenly.
Stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
8. Add Finishing Touches:
Sprinkle chopped green onions and ground black pepper over the stir-fry. Adjust salt as needed.
9. Serve Hot:
Transfer the stir-fry to a serving dish. It pairs perfectly with steamed rice or noodles.
